SOLID-LOCK® offers a state of the art wedge locking system ensuring bolt connections from coming loose by using tension instead of friction.

The SOLID-LOCK® washers relies on tension to lock a bolt connection.

 

Although Solid-Lock wedge locking washers have a locking effect even with a low preload in the bolt, the washers need a certain kind of preload in the bolt if the Solid-Lock wedge-locking washers should work. If there is no preload at all in a connection, the wedge locking washers will not be able to lock the connection.

 

SOLID-LOCK®  washers are  composed by two washers (1 pair) which are "glued" together, providing an assembly-friendly and time-saving fastening concept.

 

This pair consists of 2 identical washers both having a set of cams on one side and a S serration on the other. These washers wedge each other and lock themselves due to the fact that angle “α” of the washer cam is larger greater than the angle “β” of the bolt/screw thread.  By fastening the bolt/screw on the washer, the S serrations on the outside, will grip into both the head of the bolt and the surface material, utilizing tension (instead of friction) to lock the bolted connection.

 

Any exposure to vibration or other dynamic loads causing the bolt connection are now history, as these unique features of the SOLID-LOCK®  washers will prevent it from coming loose ensuring the best locking method in the industry.

Thorough tests and approvals
SOLID-LOCK® washers have undergone rigorously tests by world class laboratories, and are proven in Junker vibration tests.

Junker test
A Junker test is a mechanical test to determine the point at which a bolted joint loses its preload when exposed by transverse vibration. Design engineers apply the test to determine the point at which fastener securing elements – such as lock nuts, wedges and lock washers – fail when subjected to vibration.
The Junker test has been adopted into international fastener standards such as DIN 65151 and is the established method used for analyzing the self-loosening behavior of secured and unsecured threaded fasteners under transverse loading conditions by vibration testing.
Solid-Lock ®  has its own fully equipped in-house laboratory using the latest technology and highly advanced testing equipment. Solid-Lock is the only manufacturer in the world who is able to test wedge-lock washers, with its’  own Junker Test Machine,   measuring a uniquely broad fastener size range, which spans M3 – M45 ISO Metric / #4 – 1 3/4 in UTS. up 42 mm.
